On Wednesday, April 18, at 10 a.m., the Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety, and Security of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation will hold a hearing titled, “Protecting Commuters: Ensuring Accountability and Oversight in Tolling.”
According to the subcommittee: “This hearing will explore the use of tolls on the nation’s bridges and tunnels, the need for transparency and accountability by the entities that set toll rates, and the need for equity among commuters, businesses, and the traveling public who use tolled facilities.”
Motorcyclists across the country face tolls on many of our nation’s roadways. The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) believes there should be greater transparency in tolling and the decisions of tolling authorities as demonstrated by our support of S. 2006/H.R. 3684, the “Commuter Protection Act.”
We encourage you to join the conversation on tolling by watching the live hearing webcast here: http://commerce.senate.gov/public/index ... 668ca1978a.
