At his height, Mr. Waldman cut an unusual swath through the button-down world of residential real estate. Favoring T-shirts and tattoos and often working from an office at his Ducati motorcycle dealership in SoHo, he built a reputation for snapping up choice locations early in a neighborhood’s development and offering buyers a good return on a modest investment.
But now the man who was once quoted in The Daily News as saying “people who buy in my buildings should double their money within 6 to 10 years” has become something of a shadow, failing to respond to messages; his office voice mailbox is full, and the phone listed for his home in Connecticut is not in service. The construction company still occupies the space at the Walden, though efforts to reach him there were not successful. He no longer operates the Ducati dealership, which has closed but may reopen under new management.
